The bank selects Business Correspondents (BC) in remote areas and associates them with the nearest bank branch. BCs are provided a Point of Transaction(POT) machine to carry out banking transactions such as deposits and withdrawals. Remittances from abroad can be credited to the accounts and withdrawn at the BC. BCs have an Agent card to operate the machine.
BCs can collect customer details for account opening and submit to the designated branch. Once the account is opened, the customer receives a smart card with photograph and demographic details. The BC activates the biometric card and takes customer fingerprints, to be used when the card is operated.
Security is ensured as the account holder himself has to be present along with Smart card at the agen location for the withdrawal and deposit. Random selection of Fingerprint impression is made during the transaction. |
